When we visited St. Augustine, we checked out their new Pirate & Treasure Museum. I didn't know what to expect since I hadn't read any reviews online. We entered through the gift shop and showed our passes at the counter. We were given stickers and a treasure map! We were told about Discovery Drawers throughout the museum and it was our job to find them. When we began our self guided tour, we took our time wandering through the museum. There were so many things to see and there were interactive stations for us to enjoy! The museum is rich with history and the numerous relics and reproductions kept our kids entertained. At one point, we found ourselves in a dark room lined with benches and headphones. We listened intently with the headphones covering our ears (Sam did get scared because of the loud noises and complete darkness) and enjoyed the "show" while relaxing in the cool room. There were several rooms, so even on a busy day, there wouldn't be a long wait! Logan and Sam fired guns and cannons and they learned a lot when they found the Discovery Drawers! The multisensory experience allowed us to feel, smell, hear, and see through the eyes of pirates of the Golden Age! We touched real treasure and Logan and Sam took turns at the ship's wheel! When we finished our tour, we turned in our map. Logan and Sam each received a special prize! The St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum was my favorite attraction in St. Augustine. I loved it so much, I would definitely make it a part of future trips to St. Augustine. It's the kind of place you can see again and again, and you will probably see something you missed before or learn something new (and spectacular!)each time. It was a real treat for the family!
Disclosure: We were given passes to enjoy the museum. No monetary compensation received.
