“Memory Makers For the Family: Creating Unforgettable Moments”

I don't know about you, but I could always use a few ideas when it comes to planning activities with the kids.  I see other bloggers and parents, posting on facebook, looking for ideas because they are in the same rut too. “Memory Makers For the Family: Creating Unforgettable Moments” was written by mother and children’s ministry expert Cindy Sanders. In her book, she offers simple instructions for enjoyable activities. It's an invaluable tool for parents, grandparents or anyone hoping to establish a godly, loving home.

According to Sanders, the busyness of day-to-day life in our modern digital world can pull families apart and become an obstacle to relationship-building and spiritual growth. With that in mind, Sanders offers activities, crafts, recipes and everyday traditions based on the Bible and designed for adjustment according to the age of your children and your family situation. From dessert recipes and games to special blessings and prayers, the book combines faith and fun in ways that help families create treasured traditions that will last for generations.
“Making memories can be easy; it only takes a little creativity and a sense of humor,” says Sanders. “The main thing is to make time to be together and focus on God and what He wants to teach you through your time together.”

Inspired by the author’s experiences as a mother, grandmother and longtime children’s ministry leader, the book offers numerous examples of small, inexpensive ideas that any family could undertake. From offering a special plate that a child can use as a reward for good grades to surprise ice cream runs after children are ready for bed, the book emphasizes positive avenues for family fun and enjoyment.

Our family could use a little inspiration like this. We love to bake together and sometimes make dinner together. We always pray together before meals and we don't have problems sharing our feelings. However, during our free time, we usually hang out together but we really don't do a lot of other projects together. I think, because I homeschool and I'm with the kids all day, I've forgotten about all the little things I could be doing after school to help them grow spiritually and develop stronger relationships, and we all know it's the little things that count! This was a real eye-opener for me. I hope you will take the time to visit her site and learn more about this book! Make every moment with your family count!
