Residence Inn Amelia Island

Yesterday we arrived at Amelia Island and despite the rain, it was beautiful. We found our hotel very easily with the help of our GPS. The Residence Inn Amelia Island is an all suite hotel. I saw pictures online and I was eager to check in and see our room! The staff welcomed us and checked us in quickly. There is a table with self serve lemonade at the door. This is a nice touch and a wonderful treat to welcome guests after a long drive. The clerk gave us a run down of all the exciting activities offered to guests. She told us about the complimentary breakfast each morning, Nachos Night the following evening, and shuttle service to see downtown.
We took  our bags to the room. I immediately noticed the modern decor and the lively colors. It was clean and comfortable. The suite was spacious and inviting. I could spend a night or a week (or two) with two kids and not go out of my mind. There is a large television in the living area and a second in the bedroom. Perfect for our family. I like the well defined spaces and the layout. It's perfectly suited for singles, couples, and families. Our first night, we ordered Tony's Pizza. They offered free delivery to our door.
The kitchen and dining area made it possible to have a wonderful sit-down dinner with my family. Since it was raining, we didn't want to go out and that gave us a great opportunity to enjoy all the amenities the hotel had to offer. The dining area featured a table and four comfortable chairs. The kitchen was full size, with the exception of an oven. It had a coffee maker, toaster, and microwave. The solid surface counters and stainless appliances gave it a high end look. The cabinets had everything we would possibly need during our stay. You can fill out a grocery list and have your kitchen filled the same day with food or stop by the pantry downstairs and purchase food and treats! I found detergent to run the dishwasher, but I wish they also offered dish soap so I could have washed my own dishes if needed. Housekeeping took care of it the next day, but for those with sippy cups, dish soap might be appreciated.
We decided to skip the complimentary bag of popcorn on our first night and we went downstairs to check out the pool and hot tub. When we went outside, we were really sorry that it was still raining. Out of all the hotels I've visited, this hotel really hit the nail on the head when they thought out this space. It's perfect for families! They have plenty of beautiful outdoor seating, a huge grill, and an enormous fire pit! I wanted to grab the marshmallows and spend a few hours by the pit! On Wednesdays (at least the week we arrived and the week after) they grill hotdogs and hamburgers for the guests! We set up an umbrella by the pool area to keep the light rain off of us as much as possible and let the kids have fun swimming before their bedtime. When they were finished, we dried them off and headed upstairs.
The bathroom was a decent size. The curved shower was a nice plus and the wonderful soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion provided were what I'd expect from a more expensive hotel. The scents were gender neutral and invigorating. I love citrus! The Paul Mitchell hair products left for our stay were enough for our family of four. The towels were plush and absorbent. I found a hair dryer in the bathroom vanity drawer.
The bedroom featured two of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on. They were supportive and the linens were amazing! I had plenty to keep me warm through the night. I also have to mention the FIVE pillows/bed!!! That was really nice. I did not find a wall safe and that was a slight disappointment. I like to store my laptop or purse in one if I go out to the beach or pool. There was an iron, ironing board, and plenty of hangers in the closet. There were also plenty of drawer space for longer stays.

We were well rested in time for one of the most amazing hotel breakfasts ever! We made our own waffles and had almost every topping imaginable at our fingertips. We had cereal, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, and more along with a great choice of beverages including apple and orange juice. We enjoyed a relaxed breakfast and then walked almost three blocks to the beach. We passed a couple of hotels that were closer, but I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Great spacious (and clean) suite, great food, and great service. They made our stay memorable!
Logan and Sam wearing their pfd's because of the surf! Rough seas (beautiful beaches) at Amelia Island during our stay!
