Happy 50th Anniversary Slip ‘N Slide!
Slip ‘N Slide celebrates it's 50th anniversary this year. Slip ‘N Slide was invented by an upholsterer (Robert Carrier) but was released by Wham-O in 1961. Since it was first launched it has become extremely popular and lead to many imitators.
Slip ‘N Slide has become one of America’s favorite backyard activities over the years. It's definitely one of ours. Logan and Sam each received their very own product (for their birthdays!) and they've had a lot of fun! Sam received Rainforest Falls. It's for children ages 3-5. This splash pool features a 60" x 72" rectangle pool with rock cave slide waterfall. Sam and Logan enjoyed soaking in the cool refreshing waters on the rainforest floor. Sam blasted through the rock cave waterfall and slid down the rock slide for a big splash. The slide isn't attached, so you can move it anywhere around the pool! If you place the slide below the arch, a (very cold) waterfall makes sliding so much easier! This pool takes a while to inflate and it takes a while to fill. It's worth the wait! The seams are built to last, and after several uses, we haven't had a leak. And my boys are pretty rough! The pool also features a drain so it's easy to empty!
Logan received Slip 'N Slide's Extreme Monster Splash Water Slide and it was a lot of fun! For ages 5 and up, this slide features a water-filled ramp (shown in last picture) that launches you into the Giant Splash Pool and with the HydroGlide Technology you're in for a fast ride! The slide is 16 feet long and includes 2 slide anchors and 2 repair patch kits. The splash pool at the end also features a drain to make emptying the pool easy! Sam is a little too young to get the full Slip 'N Slide experience, but he had a lot of fun trying to copy his big brother!
Beat the heat this summer with your own splash pool or Slip 'N Slide! And remember, if it’s not yellow it’s not a Slip ‘N Slide! One lucky US reader will win their choice of a Rainforest Falls Splash Pool or an Extreme Monster Splash Water Slide! To enter, leave a comment and tell me which product your kids would like to have. For two extra entries, follow Slip 'N Slide on Facebook. Follow me on Google/Networked Blogs/Facebook/Twitter for one entry each follow. Links are on my sidebar. Follow (on Google/GFC) my new blog, Away We Go, for one extra entry! For 5 bonus entries, leave a comment and tell me about your favorite childhood memories with Slip 'N Slide! Please leave 5 numbered comments for each of these bonus entries. Giveaway ends midnight May 17, 2011. Good luck!

we always tried to make our own slip and slide with trash bags or other plastic sheets - never did work right though - you had to have the real deal. My brother got croc alley slip and slide after I was too old to use it and I was very jealous!

ReplyDeleteI remember pouring bubbles and/or dishwashing liquid on our slip n slide to make it even more slippery. Worked pretty well, but lots of soap and bubbles to wash off.

Me and my brother bought this super detailed slip and slide with lots of animal extras when I was younger with our own money. We hardly ever pulled it out because my parents said it was too much work and killed the grass. One day my friends came over and we drug it out from the storage area. We used it for hours and had such a blast! It was such a fun slide! Thanks!
