The Smartsilk Allergy Duvet is loftier than my all season down. It's also looks more streamlined than down, which can look a little lumpy. It's filled with silk and it has a really nice weight to it! The extra fabric sample that was sent allowed me to get a better look at what's inside. It looks like cotton candy on the inside. The finely spun silk is layered and then sandwiched between pure cotton. The cotton shell has a tight weave and it also has a very nice finish. The duvet has more fill than the silk filled mattress protector and pillowcases.

I put it to the test with Sam, my youngest. He is always slipping away before I can wash his hands. Luckily, Smartsilk can be washed and dried! I wanted to see how well it would clean up after a few minutes alone with him. Spaghetti. Scared yet? I was. After a few splatters and smears, I took my Smartsilk and covered it with a stain treatment. I used The Laundress for my test. After letting it set for about ten minutes, I washed it. The stains disappeared completely. Some stains needed a little extra scrubbing, but it all came out in the end. So if you purchase the duvet and use it without a cover, you should be pretty safe!
