I love to read. Quietly. I really don't like to read out loud. I read (quietly) at least two books a week (most weeks) not including Logan's homeschool read-out-loud books. I talk constantly through the day, explaining this and that, or making assignments. My throat is usually scratchy when bedtime rolls around. Sometimes I just don't feel like reading another book. When I'm really tired and I don't want to read a bedtime story, I end up feeling so guilty that I may read a very short story or a few poems. Now, for times like those, I can download an audiobook and Logan can follow along, scanning the pages of a beautiful hardcover children's book. We just listened along with Cesar Takes A Break, by Susan Collins Thoms. This book is illustrated by Roge. The audiobooks are recorded at Sterling by Sterling employees! Watch and rate the YouTube video about the making of Cesar Takes A Break, the audiobook, here! Cesar is a green iguana. He is a classroom pet, surrounded by children until Spring Break. Lonely, he finally takes his own little break and leaves his cage for a great adventure. He makes friends and has new experiences. This charming tale is beautifully told, and Logan loved listening and reading along. Sterling Children's Books has eight listen along storybooks. You can download the audio free! The books are available for purchase! Logan appreciated his story tonight, and I didn't have to read out loud. It works for us! Having the book in hand, Logan is introduced to words that he may not be familiar with, so it is a learning experience for him. Tonight, he went to bed and we were both happy. He had his bedtime story and I didn't feel guilty. These downloads are great for home and great for the road! Take them everywhere! Sterling Children's Books is giving away a set of all 8 children's books to three lucky readers! To enter, visit Listen-Along Storybook and tell me which book you think your child would like the most! For another entry, tell me your child's favorite bedtime story! Follow me for another entry! US residents only. Giveaway ends midnight EST, March 14, 2010. Good Luck!
