Party With Hormel!

For a recent bridal shower, I relied on Hormel to make it extra special! Hormel sent several of their Cure 81 Boneless Hams and I did the rest! If you have a large party planned, don't be afraid to buy larger hams and slice them yourself. You'll save money, and it doesn't take a lot of time. Plus, your guests will know you didn't take any shortcuts by using presliced meats. Not that that's a bad thing. I simply like my guests to know that they are really special, so I go all out!
I had fun making lots of sandwiches. I bought a variety of fresh baked deli breads and topped them with ham and cheese. I made a few with turkey, just in case someone did not like ham. Fortunately, everyone loved the ham! I also bought and baked a few packages of mini biscuits. I sliced them open and topped them with mounds of ham. They were wonderful and everyone loved them! I also made one of my favorite baked sandwiches. I opened up a tube of crescent rolls and pressed the seams together. I layered on ham and mozzarella cheese and then I rolled the dough and all the contents into one long roll. I placed the roll on a greased cookie sheet and then I brushed the top with melted butter (I've also used olive oil) and covered it with poppy seeds. I baked the the roll for 20-30 minutes at 350 until the rolls began turning a beautiful golden color. Then I sliced the roll into ham and cheese spirals! Hormel Cure 81 Hams are really full flavored and perfect for sandwiches. While I usually prefer smoked hams, I found that I couldn't get enough of these! When I purchase ham for sandwiches, I have one favorite that I rely on. Thanks to this opportunity, I've found a ham that actually prefer, and it even costs a little less too! If you are not in the mood for a slice with your dinner or even a great tasting sandwich, grill slices for breakfast! They go well with eggs or pancakes! Slice some for a great pizza topping or cube some for your salad. Get creative. The sky's the limit! Here are a couple of recipes, taken from Hormel's easy to navigate site!

Ham Salad Sandwiches

1/2 cup 1-inch celery pieces

1/4 cup roughly cut red onion

1/2 cup mayonnaise

4 sourdough dinner rolls

Directions:

1.Cut ham into 4 pieces. In food processor fitted with steel blade, pulse ham until finely ground. Remove to bowl.

2.In food processor, pulse celery and onion until finely ground. Add to ground ham. Stir in mayonnaise.

3.Split rolls; remove about 1/4 inch bread from top and bottom of each roll to create shallow well. Divide ham salad among rolls, filling top and bottom wells. Wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate before serving.

Notes:

1.Serve these sandwiches with chilled cantaloupe soup: In food processor, puree cantaloupe chunks. Add enough apple juice for soup consistency. Garnish with mint leaf.

Disclosure: Hormel sent plenty of ham for my special event in exchange for this review. No monetary compensation received.
